NMES Car Rider Dismissal Information for the 2026-2027 School Year
Dear NMES Parents and Community Members,
We hope everyone is enjoying summer! We wanted to let you know that beginning with the upcoming 2026-2027 school year, a new car rider dismissal procedure will be used. Students will be dismissed from the gym to their vehicles between 3:30 p.m. and approximately 3:50 p.m.
Please review the following information so you know where to go and what to expect.
Car Rider Pick-Up Procedures (Afternoon Only)

Parents picking up students should enter the car rider line through the Middle School entrance beginning at 3:15 p.m. Please see the map below.

After entering, follow the traffic pattern around the middle school parking lot and continue to the side of the NMES gymnasium, where students will be loaded into vehicles.

Once your child is in the vehicle, you may exit the campus by turning left or right onto Main Street.

During the first few weeks of school, staff members and signs will be available to help guide traffic and answer questions.
Important Information/Reminders

Do not enter the car rider line before 3:15 p.m. This rule is strictly enforced because early arrivals will interfere with middle school dismissal and bus traffic.

Arriving at 3:15 p.m. gives you approximately 15 minutes of wait-time before student dismissal begins at 3:30 p.m.

If you need to pick up your child before dismissal, please use the normal early checkout procedure by parking and signing your child out through the main office.

After 3:15 p.m., do not enter the front loop or main entrance drive at NMES. This area is reserved for buses and daycare vans.

Morning drop-off procedures have not changed.
This new process was developed with input from FCPS Administration, FCPS Transportation, the Frederick County Sheriff’s School Resource Officer, the Town of New Market, New Market Middle School Administration, NMES staff, and feedback from parents. Our goal is to provide a safer, smoother dismissal process while reducing traffic congestion on Main Street.
